The Original Antique Maps inventory is organized in two parts: the "General Collection" of well regarded antique maps and prints; and "The Back Room" that offers rare, scarce or one of a kind materials. The inventory changes frequently.
The Back Room is also the place to find 19th century American Wall Maps - an area of special interest. Antique American wall maps hail from a time when art and knowledge were writ large and hung on the wall, either in public places or in the privacy of the parlor. Antique wall maps are remarkable paper tapestries.
Both the General Collection and The Back Room offer geographic and thematic maps, celestial charts, nautical charts, railroad maps, travel guides and urban bird's eye views to name a few. From time to time you may find broadsides with rich compositions of type fonts, imagery and text, illustrated 19th century children's books or 19th century scientific materials and from the 20th century boldly colorful pictorial maps of places both real and imagined. What unifies this ever changing collection is that each map, print or publication is a spokesman for its time, illustrating that moment when political boundaries moved, territories grew towns, inventors introduced new technology, political sovereignty shifted or a new cultural paradigm emerged.

Georeferencer v4 is an improved and updated version of our prior Georeferencer v3. It allows you to overlay historic maps on modern maps or other historic maps. The overlaid maps reveal changes over time and enable map analysis and discovery. You can choose your own maps to georeference by Searching LUNA and using the Georeference This Map button or help us georeference the entire online map library using our Random Map link to georeference maps in our First Pilot Project of 6,000 maps of major cities and regions. Users who georeference the most maps will be recognized in the bar displays below. Recently Georeferenced maps can be viewed by image or by location.
The MapRank search tool enables geographical searching of the collection by map location and coverage, in a Google Map window. Pan and zoom the Google Map to the area of the world you want maps of, and the results will automatically appear as a scrollable list of maps with thumbnail images in the right side window. The maps in the right side list are ranked by coverage, with the maps that have coverage closest to your search window listed at the top. Mousing over any map in the list will show the map's coverage as a light red rectangle on top of the Google Map. Clicking on a map in the list will open it in the Luna Browser. You can filter your results with the When timeline, the What or Who keyword text window, and the Map scale windows, as well as search by place name in the Find a place window. Learn more

His love for the stories of the maps and the mapmakers have opened new discoveries on many fronts. He loves exploring vintage maps and their origins as it was a place where science, art and history all intersect. He believes that we are in a state where we could easily leave behind a paper age and has endeavored to keep the love of holding a map in your actual hand alive.
If you have read any of his articles, listened to his podcast, seen him on the news or had an experience with him at a map fair, you would know his passion for maps and their stories is infectious. He can often be found fanning the flames with his spirit of curiosity. He and his wife Alanna live in the Denver Metro area with their two sons, who have been huge helpers in the family business.
